My name is Debby Knight and I decided to teach dog grooming after talking to former students that had been to very expensive grooming schools and were very disappointed. Many had felt they had not received enough individual attention and still did not feel confident to work on their own. I ONLY have ONE student at a time, I am a small busy grooming parlour, believing in quality, professional grooming. I learnt to groom over 30 years ago and I am still passionate about what I do. I have been fortunate to groom both in the USA (Las Vegas) and in the UK. I invite you to look around my web site. I will teach you to groom your own dog, brush up on the basic grooming techniques, or set up and run your own business. I will also provide phone support after you finish my course. You will use my equipment, while you are learning, so don’t waste money on buying equipment you may not need. Try mine first. If you have any questions or queries before you sign up, for a course, please call me. Your training can be taken in stages or on a continuous basis. Classes are available Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays, where available. I am located on the beautiful border of England and Wales in Oswestry, Shropshire. There is good bed and breakfast accommodation available, plus takeaways, shops etc, all within walking distance of the salon. COURSES:
INTRODUCTION TO DOG GROOMING 9am-1pm 1/2 day. Come and see how a salon works and find out if this is the career for you. Cost £50 (Refundable on booking of 16 day course)
PET OWNERS COURSE 9am-1pm Basic grooming tips to help take care of your pet, To include trim, clip, strip, clean ears and clip nails. Bring your own pet. Cost £70
5 DAY COURSE Flexible hours Brush up on Grooming techniques. Includes :- Handout folder Photo's of the dogs worked on Handouts where applicable Diploma upon successful completion of course Cost £480
16 DAY COURSE Flexible hours
Includes :- Handling techniques, bathing, brushing, drying and de-matting. All the different tools, equipment and their uses Clipping and scissoring the most popular breeds plus introduction to hand stripping Use of different shampoos, conditioners and grooming products Learn how to startup and run your grooming salon Basic breed recognition First aid, health and safety and much more Also included:- "Notes from the Grooming Table" "Doglopedia" Handouts relevant to the course Photo of the dogs worked on Handout folder You will receive 3 diplomas upon successful completion of the course:- 1) Dog Grooming, Practical and Theory 2) Canine Health and First Aid 3) Salon Management
You will be trained to City and Guilds Level 2 standard. To obtain the qualification, there is an additional charge to take your exam and assessment. This is done externally and can be arranged with prior notice. Cost £1650
